10 Years of e=mc2: Built From the Ground, Built to Last
Ten years ago, e=mc2 opened its doors to Canmore.
At the time, ‘coworking’ was still a new idea for this community — flexible offices, shared workspaces, places to meet without the formality of traditional leases or boardrooms. What we lacked in recognition, we made up for in belief: that professionals in a small town deserve a polished, intentional, reliable environment to do their best work.
What we didn’t expect was how hard it would be to stay standing. We gave generously. Time. Space. Energy. We supported others when we barely had the resources to support ourselves — not for visibility or praise, but because we were investing in the kind of community we hoped to grow.
Like many entrepreneurs, we’ve experienced moments when support didn’t arrive, doors didn’t open, and not every connection was meant to last. Some recognition went elsewhere. But we kept building — for the people who showed up, and the work that mattered.
Over time, what grew inside our walls became something more powerful than visibility: a community of grounded, driven, values-aligned professionals. People who don’t just rent space — they share a Centre. They build their dreams and contribute to others’. Together, we’ve created an environment rooted in respect, clarity, and mutual support.
We’ve learned that staying small doesn’t mean playing small. That being the first doesn’t always mean being the loudest. That integrity outlasts image, and trust is earned quietly, over years — not in press releases or pitch decks.
To everyone who believed in us, worked beside us, trusted our Centre with your energy and ideas: thank you. You are the heart of this place.
We’re proud of what we’ve built. Not in theory — in reality.
And ten years in, here we stand — built by trust, grounded by people. It’s time to celebrate!
